Bobbo deva

‘Bobbo Deva’ is a beautiful rendition of an old song from a 1973 Konkani Drama ‘Trisandhya’. The music is composed and sung by the famous Kuldeep M Pai.

The music is soothing and the lyrics will touch the heart of any father with a daughter. Some of the words used in the song are not part of my regular Konkani vocabulary. Like ‘in the temple’ here is referred to as Devlant (Possibly derived from Devalayantu) whereas I use ‘Devasthanantu’. Araat is similar to Teru – the chariot festival and I believe here it is specific to the one held in the Kochi Thirumala Dewaswom. There is a very good article on Araat here. Chaunchak is ‘Chamkuchak’ means walking. Satteli is Umbrella. Gomtek means ‘On the neck’. Bobbo means any eatable but I think its the soft dosa in particular.
