The place started as a Bhajana Mandira based on guidance from Shri Sudheendra Swami of Kashi Math. The land for the construction was donated by Shrimati Sulochana Krishna Pai and her children. The foundation stone was laid by the renowned sculptor Renjala Gopalakrishna Shenoy and the idol was consecrated on 20th April 1983, the day of Hanuman Jayanti by Vedamoorty Padubidri Damodar Bhat.
Besides being a place of worship, the temple has over the years organised a number of community events including organisation of entertainment shows, medical camps, big pccture screening and traditional art performances like harikatha and yakshagana.
The place also has a coconut tree grow club inaugurated in 1977 by Shri Vishwesh Teertha Swami of Pejavara Math; the club distributes 600 coconut saplings annually to residents.
The wide known drama troupe 'Roopa Ranga Homaru' also has its origin here.
