Although Google will throw out a very confusing Belman as the location, this place is called Belmannu. Belmannu in the local Tulu language means silver soil (Belli + Mannu) due to the nature of the local soil.
As is the parampara in most GSB towns, the locals used to come together every week for bhajans. Due to the lack of a fixed location, these people would come together in shops, store rooms or people's homes. Overtime, the need for a single location was felt. Subsequently, 2 brothers Shri Sridhar Kamath and Shri Shivaraya Kamath donated 13 cents of land in remembrance of their father and a temple was built. This was inaugurated by Shri Sudheendra Swami of Kashi Math in 1969. In 1998 a functions hall was built next to the temple.
The temple was renovated in 2008 by constructing the fully stoned sanctum sanctorum (garbhagriha) and the idol was reconsecrated by Swamiji.
Placed in the sanctum sanctorum is a picture of Vithobha Rakhumai along with a small Utsav Murthy (brought by Shri Ramesh Prabhu from Pandharapura) used for processions and a Shaligrama given by Shri Sudheendra Tirtha Swamiji.
